Dental office drilling into Mountain House
With a convenience store selling sodas and candy bars now open in Mountain House, one might’ve guessed that a dentist’s office for those with a sweet tooth wouldn’t be far behind.

Sure enough, workers were busy installing dental chairs Monday at the future Mountain House Dental office on Wicklund Crossing.

The office could be ready by the end of the month, though the opening date has not been set, said Dr. Isabela Putzlacher, who will practice general dentistry for children and adults.

“It’s going to be a small family dentist,” said Putzlacher, a dentist for more than 10 years.

The office will be a high-tech, paperless office, she said, with a digital X-ray machine; patients will be able to see the pictures on a flat screen above their chairs.

An increasing number of dental practices are paperless, said Joseph Pennisi of Patterson Dental Supply Inc., a nationwide company hired to set up the dental equipment.

While the office will be state-of-the-art, Putzlacher said she wants to make her patients feel as if they were visiting a friend.

Putzlacher, who now works for a group of dentists in Tracy, said she searched for space for a long time.

She chose Mountain House because it is a good community and a good location, she said.

Mountain House resident Jan Johnson said Putzlacher’s office will be much more convenient for her and her family, who now go to a dentist in Livermore.

“This would actually make it very nice,” she said.

Trimark Communities LLC’s information office and Wicklund’s Market are also in Wicklund’s neighborhood commercial building.

The building could have up to four or five suites, said Eric Tee-Bose, director of community development for Trimark.

We’re still in negotiation for other businesses,” he said.

More than 870 building permits have been issued for Mountain House since 2003, according to county data. Families now occupy more than 630 homes.
